Upper-level wind shear and drier air have taken Bertha down a few notches. This storm is now a Cat 1 with wind speeds of 85mph, moving WNW@10mph as of 5pm today. The bulk of this storm's wave making for our window is largely finished. As the storm's direction begins to go more north it significantly decreases the amount of swell sent our direction. Fear not though, our waves are on the way.

Forecast: We could begin to see groundswell filtering in before dark on Thursday and peaking early Friday. Low tide is around 9am on Friday, which stinks because it's hard to say what the wind will be doing once the tide starts coming up. We should have swell throughout the day on Friday and possibly some leftovers hanging on through the weekend. Not expecting much size, but swell period looks to be about 15sec. which is nice. I'll post swell heights and period once they start reaching operational buoys.

Lots of kids surf great, but very few have that competitive drive and contest smarts to go with it. This kid is a contest surfing machine and he basically wins everything he enters. Also note the sweet cameo by Matt Beacham, throwing buckets of spray to inspire the groms. Click here for the gallery >>

I'm sure many haven't even hit the web yet.
